For
real, just think about it for a moment: ever since you were old enough
to know what a career is how many have you thought are good for you?
We’ve all been kids at some point and gone through this rollercoaster.
Probably at 10 all you wanted to be was a cop, catching bad guys,
fighting crime and that sort of thing. Then as you got a little older
you kind of thought you could make a career in sports because of some of
the sports friends you had in school, who seemed to enjoy themselves
and got all the attention of the fans. Then you met your Uncle Greg who
was a laywer. Nice suits, very knowledgeable about law and could tell
you countless of rights you never knew you had. Then just for a moment,
law seemed like a pretty cool thing.
Does
this sound familiar? It’s nothing to worry about most people go through
this period of their lives when part of them seems to want to do
everything. The only unfortunate thing is that very few people get
expert help to really know what they were wired to do. Choose a
different path by going for career counselling and you’ll discover that
it is certainly worth it.

Imaginary you vs Real you
It’s
good to get the difference! There are skills you think you have and
there are natural skills that you really do have. Sometimes it can be
very confusing determining what’s real and what’s imaginary. Career counselling
is the best way you can quickly identify your natural skills and begin
growing them, perfecting them and ultimately using them to build an
exciting career. Career counsellors can objectively look at you and make
an analysis of you that they will use to give you feedback on what set
of skills and passions you were really ingrained with that you can use
to get into certain specific careers and thrive.
My Passion can’t turn into a Career
So
many people are often caught up in this trap. Where all the passions
you have don’t really seem like they can turn out into any great career
like what you see in other people! But wait a minute; in the 21st
century painting, playing musical instruments, athletics, singing and
many other not really ‘white collar occupations’ can make you a great
career. The problem is you might just be looking at your passion or
talent in the wrong way and that is why you need career counselling.
Counsellors can give you a new perspective of looking at your passion
and help you chart a plan on how to turn it into a booming career.

What does it take to Succeed in my Industry?
Another
important benefit of career counselling is that you get to speak to
counsellors who are experts in your field. As a result, you will get
information that comes from a wealth of experience. The kind information
you would have taken 3-5 years to get to know about. For a person who’s
new in their career, counsellors can further inform you of the courses,
training and tools to better your skills and progress faster. Don’t
forget career counsellors assist in making tough decisions that will
improve your career such as choosing the right courses to further your
study, evaluating new employment options or even changing your career.
